5-STAND

Basics Below!

5-Stand is the newest addition to our facility and the third discipline available at PTSC! On a 5-stand field, the target throwers are strategically placed throughout a large field. Each of the five stations is aligned in a row and partially enclosed by a “stand” that limits shooting angles at targets. Targets may be thrown from left to right, right to left, fading away, incoming, or vertically. Generally, the first target thrown from each station is a single target followed up with either a report pair or true pair.

A report pair is a single target followed by another target thrown upon the shooter’s first shot. A true pair is two individual targets thrown simultaneously by two different throwers. Once all shooters have completed their stations, they rotate clockwise to the next station.

5-Stand is the most challenging discipline we have available and is recommended for more advanced shooters.

5-Stand is a 25-target game shot over 5 stations. Each station is in a line at the back of the field, with the shooter standing in a “cage,” to limit their firing angles.

Each station has 5 targets, usually a mix of singles, report pairs, and true pairs from various locations. After each shooter has taken 5 shots, the squad will rotate to the right with the shooter on post five rotating over to post one.

Note: 5-Stand and Sporting Clays are very similar, so some resources will say Sporting Clays and some will say 5-Stand
